Nationally Recognised Training

The Service Trades College Australia (RTO) Pty Ltd (RTO ID 31239) is an industry owned RTO which delivers training to the plumbing industry in Australia. STC is the contracted RTO to deliver subsidised training as a User Choice Skills Assure Supplier in QLD, and as a Smart and Skilled supplier in NSW. Our state-of-the-art facilities deliver cutting edge training in partnership with other industry organisations across 2 sites, which are strategically located in Beenleigh (Queensland) and Glenwood (New South Wales), hosted at the Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC) – a unique, industry-led organisation.

PICAC is strengthened by the support of prominent industry bodies, including the Plumbing and Pipe Trades Employees Union (PPTEU), Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia (MPMSAA), Master Plumbers Association of Queensland (MPAQ), National Fire Industry Association of Australia (NFIA), and the Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors Association (AMCA).

This qualification is your gateway to mastering the installation of pipes, fixtures, gas regulators, pumps, gas appliances, water tanks, water heaters, and water heating systems. Tailored specifically for the commercial sector, both employers and apprentices enjoy a host of additional benefits.

At successful completion of the apprenticeship, occupational titles may include:

• Plumber and Drainer
• Plumber and Gasfitter
• Gasfitter
• Roof Plumber
• Mechanical Services Plumber

In addition, to practice this occupation in Australia requires licensing. Varying state and territory jurisdictions have distinct licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements. It is advisable to consult relevant state and territory regulatory authorities to verify these requirements.

Enrolment

Previous training

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning is offered to all apprentices, application is to be made at enrolment.  Fees if applicable may be adjusted at the outcome of a successful application.

QLD: As a User Choice Skills Assure Supplier with the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training, we are able to provide subsidised training and assessment to eligible Queenslanders. FREE APPRENTICESHIPS are available to eligible apprentices – aged Under 25 or 21 years old. Student Co-contribution fees may apply @ rate of $1.60 per nominal hour or concessional $0.64 per nominal hour, if ineligible for FREE APPRENTICESHIPS.

FEE-FREE APPRENTICESHIPS are available to NSW apprentices whose training is funded under NSW Government’s Smart and Skilled Program and commenced after 1 July 2018.

The Service Trades College provides additional support to all Apprentices, including but not limited to:

  • Guidance to external support services

Duration

In addition to on-the-job learning, Apprentices are expected to attend the Campus:

General Plumber                     25 weeks over three year period

Mechanical Plumber               32 weeks over four year period

Individualised Training Plans are prepared and provided to each Apprentice and Employer at the commencement of each new year.
